This month, temperatures across the country averaged 17 degrees, while air temperatures were 4 to 5 degrees above seasonal normals.
An extraordinarily hot period was also recorded in France in the second half of October.
In the village of Figari on the island of Corsica, temperatures reached 32.5 degrees on October 23 and 30 degrees on October 16 in the city of Bordeaux in the south of the country. (AA)
