Stating that the number of positive cases, which was 1-2 per day in May and June, has increased to 300 in recent days, Provincial Health Director Dr. Ümit Mutlu Tiryaki noted that with the movement in the case rates, the daily vaccination numbers in the city, which was 30-40, increased to approximately 700. Dr. Tiryaki stated that the increase in positive case rates is not reflected in the intensive care unit, and that the occupancy rate in the intensive care services is currently 5 percent.
“Cases CURRENTLY SEEN IN TURKEY ARE MOSTLY BA4-BA5”
Dr. Ümit Mutlu Tiryaki said that in positive cases, the symptoms are mostly sore throat, sore throat, fever, weakness, malaise, runny nose or congestion. Saying that sub-variants of Kovid-19 have emerged, Dr. Tiryaki said, “Sub variants of Kovid-19 have started to emerge. Like BA4-BA5. Currently, the cases seen in Turkey are mostly BA4-BA5. The cases are seen as one of these two mutations. We have confirmed this in laboratories.
“THE SHAPE HAS CHANGED… NOT EXACTLY THE SAME WITH PREVIOUS SYMPTOMS”
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a bit right now. Not exactly the same as previous symptoms. Currently, its symptoms are mostly manifested as sore throat, nasal burning, mild fever, weakness, malaise, runny or stuffy nose. In chronic patients, citizens come with complaints of cough with involvement of this lung,” he said.
Tiryaki said that the occupancy rates of the hospitals were not high and that Dr. Ersin Arslan said that the Kovid-19 intensive care unit in the Annex Building showed an occupancy rate of 3 percent.
Stating that the number of positive cases in the city, which was a few per day, increased rapidly to 300, Dr. Tiryaki said, “The occupancy rates of our hospitals are not high at the moment. All of our hospitals are clean hospitals at the moment. The occupancy rates of our pandemic hospital are currently at the level of 5 percent. Our daily case rates in Gaziantep vary between 200 and 300 cases with this movement. It could be even higher,” he said.
“DAILY VACCINE NUMBERS INCREASED UP TO 700”
Noting that there has been a rapid increase in vaccination rates with the increase in positive case rates, Dr. Tiryaki said:
“Unfortunately, with the relief in people, vaccination studies, which had been going very well until then, suddenly went down in all of Turkey. There was almost no vaccination. In Gaziantep, the vaccination numbers dropped to 30-40 per day. Currently, with the movement in the number of cases, the number of vaccinations has increased. Our daily vaccination numbers have increased to 700. We also warn our citizens. If at least 6 months have passed since the vaccination, if there is a chronic disease, it is beneficial to be vaccinated. The vaccine is administered in every hospital at the moment. . We also have all kinds of vaccines available.” (DHA)
