Anyone who thinks they have already seen all versions of the story of King Arthur, the sword Excalibur and the wizard Merlin should take a look at this Fantasy two-parter The Mists of Avalon throw. Big adventure film That’s what the fantasy TV tip The Mists of Avalon is about

The Arthurian legend has been filmed many times, but The Mists of Avalon does not focus on the young king, but on his half-sister. Morgaine (Julianna Margulies) is born into a time of conflicting beliefs. On one side is the ancient Celtic beliefs, dominated by women and symbolized by the mythical island of Avalon. On the other is Christianity, which is spreading throughout the empire.

The Mists of Avalon: Joan Allen, Julianna Margulies and Anjelica Huston

Morgaine becomes embroiled in political intrigue when she teams up with her aunt Viviane (Anjelica Huston), the High Priestess of Avalon To save Avalon’s future. She comes into conflict with her own family, including her half-sister Morgause (Joan Allen) and her half-brother Arthur (Edward Atterton), who becomes king of Camelot. Political intrigues, various affairs and a decidedly feminist twist enrich the narrative.

The TV adaptation never aspires to the complexity of Marion Zimmer Bradley’s original; the script rushes too much through the book’s 900-page story. The less you know about the template, the more you can enjoy it somewhat old-fashioned TV spectacle have.
