In 2017, The Handmaid’s Tale started the series adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s popular sci-fi novel and has been able to inspire numerous fans and critics since then. After eight years and six seasons, the series will come to an end this year – at least when it comes to the main series. Because one Sequel series has now been officially ordered.
Continued to sci-fi-hit the handmaid’s Tale: The Testament brings us back to Gilead
As Deadline reports, the US streamer Hulu officially ordered the successor series for The Handmaid’s Tale. This will bear The Testament title and are based on Margaret Atwood’s follow -up novel from 2019. The story leads us 15 years after the events from The Handmaid’s Tale Again in the dystopian future vision of Gilead.
Bruce Miller and Warren Littlefield, who were already launching the main series, will also stand behind the new series as creative forces. Elisabeth Moss, who embodies June Osborne in the Handmaid’s main character June Osborne, will be on board as an executive producer. Whether June returns in the series is expected to depend on whether she survives the events of the final season of the main series-because this has not yet run over the TV screens.

The Testaments revolves around A new generation of women in Gileadwho grew up in the dystopian regime and did not get to know it differently. While they are confronted with a dreary future in which they are supposed to serve their marriage, they have to look for old and new allies to escape this predetermined life.
When is The Handmaid’s Tall Continuation The Testament?
The final 6th season of The Handmaid’s Tale starts on April 8, 2025 in the USA on Hulu. In Germany, the consequences will be shown in parallel to the US broadcast on Magenta TV. The first three episodes of the final relay are available there on April 8th. The remaining seven episodes appear every week.
One day before the start of the final relay, on April 7, 2025, The Testament should start production. So far it is unclear when the series should reach us. With a start is current not before the end of 2026 to expect.
