Jake Gittes is the name of the protagonist played by Nicholson in Chinatown. He’s not necessarily one of the most trusting people out and about in the city. Basically, he could also be a criminal who spicy information to questionable places. Nevertheless, he follows certain principles.

His latest assignment takes him to a dark corner of Los Angeles to track down Hollis Mulwray and convict him of adultery. Hollis is the controversial one Architect of the water supply system from Los Angeles. The more Gittes deals with the case, the deeper he sinks into a conspiracy.
Polanski has one from crime history timeless classic created that inspires cinema to this day. There are even some references to Chinatown in The Batman. Director Matt Reeves cited the film as one of his major inspirations as he began work on the DC blockbuster.
Chinatown is one of those movies that never gets boring. Although many elements feel familiar, Polanski pulls a lot out of the setting atmospherically. Really strong is the end in which releases all uncertainty, which had previously been backed up for two hours. Here Polanski pulls out all the stops of his skills.
