QR codes are almost in many moments of our lives. So much so that today, when you want a menu in a cafe or restaurant, it is quite common to encounter the answer “You can examine our menu by scanning the QR code on the table”. However, the parking meter and fraud-oriented news from the USA on QR code are not very good.
US POLICE WARN ABOUT QR CODE
In many US cities, police are warning people not to pay parking fees using QR codes affixed to parking meters that determine the length of time the vehicle is left in toll parking spaces.
This is because QR codes are placed by scammers who use it to redirect people to fake sites that hijack their payment information.
The Austin Police Department tweeted about the issue last week.

In the tweet in question, it was stated that fake QR code tags were discovered on parking meters in the City of Austin, and it was said that people who tried to pay parking fees using these QR codes may have been directed to a fraudulent website and paid.
