With the Fearless Draft, the e-sports scene in League of Legends has received a new format that should make the matches more exciting for spectators and players. The format should disappear again next season. But find LOL professionals and coaches from Europe, the format should remain forever.
What is the Fearless Draft? The Fearless Draft ensures that champions can only be played once in a best-of-3 or best-of-5. This should ensure that the matches are more exciting for spectators because there are more variations and strategies when choosing.
With a Fearless Draft (Global Ban-Pick), each team is only allowed to play every champion once. If a team 3-0 wins, the team used 15 different heroes. If a game goes into the 5 round, the team even played 25 different champs. This requires that each player must master at least 5-7 heroes. In a normal format, it would be possible with the same ban on that a player only has to master a single hero or maybe three or four.
At the same time, the Fearless Draft should also reward teams and players who have a large champion pool. Teams have to consider more than the optimal strategy in order to be able to gain an encounter.
The Fearless Draft was tried for the first time in the Winter Split 2025 and created mixed opinions. However, professionals and coaches from the European league praise the format and find that it should continue.
