The creepy Insidious series, which was launched in 2010 by Saw director James Wan, now has five films. Financially, each part has paid off extremely well, which is due to the comparatively manageable budgets and the general popularity of the genre.
Insidious: The Red Door, directed by Patrick Wilson himself for the first time, is another Box Office hit. The fifth part of the franchise is now officially the highest grossing horror film of 2023.
Insidious 5 is another financial mega-success
According to Box Office Mojo, Insidious: The Red Door worldwide over 182 million dollars recorded. With a budget of $16 million, that’s a more than satisfactory sum for the studio.
As Collider reports, Insidious 5 is the new most successful horror film of 2023 ahead of Scream VI (168 million worldwide) and M3gan (179 million worldwide). The risk of releasing the latest Insidious part in the blockbuster summer between films like Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny, Mission: Impossible 7 – Dead Reckoning Part One, Barbie and Oppenheimer has fully paid off.
How does the Insidious series continue after part 5?
Officially, Insidious: The Red Door is intended to be the grand finale to the Lambert family saga. Another film in the series has not yet been planned or announced.
Despite the financial success, we can’t rule out the possibility of another Insidious offshoot. Similar to parts 3 and 4, it could again tell a backstory.
