Fight Club director David Fincher and Netflix have had a fruitful working relationship for years. His films on the streaming service include the crime drama series Mindhunter and, most recently, the thriller The Killer. Details on the next Fincher film for Netflix Apparently, the director is making a western that was on the so-called Black List in 2008.
David Fincher to direct promising western for Netflix
According to What’s on Netflix, Fincher is next set to shoot the western Bitterroot for the streaming service. The film has been in the pipeline for 15 years. so far on the list of the best unfilmed Hollywood screenplays under the title Big Hole.
In the story by screenwriter Michael Gilio (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves), a desperate rancher begins robbing banks. Before that, all of his savings were stolen. During his robberies, in which he also wants to catch the thieves, he is ultimately hunted by the sheriff – who is also his own son.
According to What’s on Netflix, the project has not yet been finally confirmed as a new Fincher film for the streaming service. If it does happen and filming can begin next year, Bitterroot should appear on Netflix sometime in 2026.
