Stating that the disease causes damage to the lungs in those who have coronavirus, Internal Medicine Specialist Dr. Bülent Koçer warned the citizens to go to the control at certain periods.

Although the Omicron spreads faster, it is much lighter than the Delta variant. Our hospitalization rates are slightly lower. But we still need to take precautions. It is very important to use masks, not to enter public areas too much, and hand cleaning is very important,” he said.

Explaining how they make the indication for hospitalization in patients, Bülent Koçer said, “We take these patients to the hospital, especially if they have pneumonia, high fever, excessive dry cough and shortness of breath. It is usually symptomatic, that is, with a flu-like symptom. The disease manifests itself with a runny nose, mild fever, cough, muscle and joint pain. We recommend that those who feel these symptoms should check it again with a PCR test. Afterwards, patients may unfortunately have lung problems after Covid. Thickening of the lungs begins and shortness of breath may develop or cardiovascular problems may occur. Diabetes can start suddenly because it can also attack the pancreas. That’s why we recommend that patients with Covid should go to a doctor for a check-up after 1 month and in 3-month periods. Because, even after 6 months, we see that the lungs are damaged, and their treatment is absolutely required by a specialist doctor,” he said.
“A HEAVY REACTION CAN START IN THE BODY AFTER THE 5TH DAY”
Noting that they are trying to serve in 3 polyclinics in the hospital, especially in cases of Covid, in the chest, internal medicine and infectious diseases department, Koçer said, “After the detection of Covid patients by our specialist physicians, the situation is evaluated. If the patients’ conditions are severe, elderly and have additional diseases, respiratory failure, lung problems, pneumonia, we are hospitalized in a special floor in our hospital to be treated and we start their treatment there. If their symptoms are very mild and their blood values are correct, we give their treatment in the form of home isolation to our patients in the outpatient clinic. We are following very closely. We are constantly calling and we want them to call us too. Because, as it is known, after the 5th day, a severe reaction may begin in the body and this can lead to a process leading up to the death of the patient. That’s why we follow our patients closely,” he said.
