From time to time, not everything goes according to plan in the film industry. Then behind the scenes, places have to be swapped, scripts have to be adjusted, scenes have to be re-shot. This is particularly difficult when a director has to step down – and the deputy has completely different visions. Because sometimes the The original vision was by far the better one.
Zack Snyder’s fans also suspected this when he had to stop working on DC’s Justice League for family reasons. Joss Whedon, who took his place, processed the existing material into a much funnier, shorter and more family-friendly version. But Snyder fans and even some of the actors fought for years for the now famous “Snyder Cut”.
The result is Zack Snyder’s Justice League – whole four hours of a superhero epicwhich has a lot to offer. And which is now part of the streaming flat rate on Amazon Prime.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League unites the DCEU’s greatest heroes in the fight against the apocalypse
The Earth is far from over the death of Superman (Henry Cavill) when dark clouds of doom are already gathering over it. Superman’s death has set a ball rolling and no one yet knows what it will trigger.
Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne, aka Batman (Ben Affleck), is determined to travel around the world to inform the remaining superheroes of his plan. He is convinced that they must stand together to protect the earth from further threats. So he turns to Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Flash (Ezra Miller) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), among others – but initially without success.

Only when conqueror Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) sets foot on Earth for the first time in a long time and brings his army of parademons with him does it become clear: Earth needs the Justice League. Heroes who, despite their differences, fight a common enemy. And the even greater threatthat lurks behind this enemy.
The Snyder Cut easily crushes the theatrical version – despite its length
It is nothing new that director’s cuts are often significantly longer than their theatrical versions. The Snyder Cut, with its running time of over four hours, can still be classified as “pretty excessive”. Is such a running time really necessary or justified in order to turn the original, chaotic and tonally inconsistent Justice League into a true epic to create? Oh, yes.
Despite or precisely because because of Despite its enormous running time, all the characters and story lines in Zack Snyder’s Justice League finally get some breathing room. A cyborg (Ray Fisher) is transformed from a hasty addition into a lovable key figure. Superman’s death is properly dealt with by everyone involved, instead of seeming like a side note. Bruce Wayne really has to fight for his plans.

The suddenly much more interesting Cyborg (Ray Fisher)
Everything fits together better in the Snyder Cut. The dark atmosphere, which builds to a true feeling of apocalypse. The epic action sequences. The dynamics within the Justice League and with all the supporting characters. The story is 300 percent more interesting, which also draws Steppenwolf as an antagonist. Suddenly really the world is at stake.
