How far will he go? This is the question we ask ourselves with regard to GTA V, which continues to sell out again and again, despite the weariness of players waiting for the release of GTA 6. During its quarterly review, Take Two Interactive has therefore revealed some figures for all of these entities. On the side of Rockstar Games, we therefore learn that GTA 5 now has 170 million copies sold, since its first release in 2013. The next gen ‘version of the game displays more than 5 million copies sold, we already knew it since last May. Even if the figures are impressive, they are less strong than those of the previous generation, which is quite logical given the longevity of the title. Take Two Interactive took the opportunity to say that the development of GTA 6 is going very well, but it will be necessary to wait a few more years before seeing the final result.
For the 2K Games part, sales are certainly less powerful, but there is nothing to be ashamed of either. Indeed, NBA 2K22 has to date no less than 12 million copies sold, which makes this episode one of the most popular and appreciated by the general public. Borderlands 3 has accumulated 15 million copies sold, which is perfectly honorable, but less than Borderlands 2 which ended its career at 26 million. Even with all the envy in the world, Borderlands 3 shouldn’t surpass its predecessor. In absolute terms, Take Two Interactive should also bet on mobile in the future, since the takeover of Zynga at the start of the year also aims to be strong in a buoyant market for many years.
