Violent revenge thriller on TV: That’s what Revenge is about
The plot of the film revolves around Jen (Matilda Lutz), who sets off with her boyfriend Richard (Kevin Janssens). luxurious property in the desert. She wants to spend a few relaxing days there in the sun. After Richard returns from a hunting trip with a few friends, Jen is raped by one of the two. After that, everything escalates even more and the main character has to fight for survival and fight back.
When Jen sets out on her quest for revenge, Fargeat’s film seems like a fever dream that periodically explodes in garish, overdriven colors. Under the scorching desert sun, Revenge comes across as a bright pop art inferno. The director meets the content conventions of the rape-and-revenge film with astonishing shapes and colors, but still some extremely hard scenes are shown.
