It is at stake in the Turkish election

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is being challenged by a united opposition consisting of six parties. Several polls give his main challenger, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, a slight lead in public opinion. The opposition politician is described as a soft-spoken former civil servant who stands in stark contrast to the incumbent president.

Kilicdaroglu, leader of the main opposition CHP party, criticizes the government both for the economic crisis the country is battling and for the way the February earthquake disaster was handled.

The outcome of the election could have a major impact on Turkey’s future – and the country’s relations with other countries. See more about it in the clip above.
