What an incredible revenge for Stina Nilsson.
After several years of negative headlines and harsh criticism, she is now a big success.
But I still have to say it, it hurts me to see her go long distance.
There is always a lot to talk about Stina Nilsson. Although she herself prefers to keep a low profile, she has a large following among Swedes and she therefore attracts a lot of attention.
Stina Nilsson exposed
That’s why it was such a shock when she announced five years ago that she was leaving cross-country skiing as one of the world’s best sprinters, to switch to biathlon instead. Way too much has already been said about that decision and I totally buy that she wanted new motivation.

I also think that she has been exposed far too hard during her four seasons as a biathlete. But it is also because her name is Stina Nilsson and so many Swedes care about her achievements.
Changed to long distance
Finally, she had enough and gave up biathlon. I also completely buy that as she has a rugged winner’s skull and is obviously not satisfied with bottom placements for such a long time.

But what I can’t understand is the switch to long distance. Long run!? Now she has had a dream start in her new sport and has immediately lined up podiums and it is of course wonderful to see her bursting with joy.
Stina throws away
It still hurts me to see her cross-country skiing when, in my eyes, she should have returned to cross-country skiing again. She is only 31 years old and had still maintained a high level, even though she had been away for four years, Stina still continued to ski the whole time.

Just watch Therese Johaug who is 36 years old and returns from a two-year hiatus, during which she gave birth, and still maintains the same high capacity. Admittedly, the Norwegian is a sporting unique, but skiers like Stina Nilsson are not often seen.
I am fully prepared to raise my hand, stand up and say out loud that Nilsson is throwing away his best years of his skiing career. She is so incredibly missed in cross-country skiing, both for her capacity on the slopes but also for her wonderful personality.
