It has an unbearable smell but they drink it to

Kertmekaracaören village, in the Ulaş district of Sivas, draws attention with its water that smells like boiled eggs and is believed to have healing properties. The scented water of this village, which is 30 kilometers away from the district, is at the top of the list of those seeking healing. It is thought that the water is good for many ailments, from skin diseases to kidney stones.

Village headman Mustafa Çipil, who stated that there is demand for the water from abroad, said, “It is believed to be healing. Despite its smell, it is drunk and taken away in canisters. I will have a pool built next to the fountain, if possible, so that the citizens can benefit from the mud and water. It is known and believed to be healing, but we would like the authorities to conduct the necessary analyses.”

“WE WILL USE THE WATER”

Çipil, who stated that he would build a pool next to the fountain, said, “This fountain used to be somewhere up there. It had become a swamp. A railroad sergeant used to say that he bathed in this water and mud. Because there were wounds on his body, he would send the worker back to work and then lie in the mud of this water.

Of course, when he said this water was good, we told the villagers to use this water. Since the water was in an old place up there, no one could find it. I dug 250 meters and carried this water here. Here, everyone can find it more easily. When the possibilities become available, I will have a pool built next to this fountain.”

“THEY CAME FROM FRANCE AND BROUGHT WATER IN CANNIBS”

Cipil, who said that the fame of the water had reached abroad, said, “In the past, children had an urticaria disease called dabaz among the people. Our elders would tell us to bring some of that smelly water. We would bring some of this water.

Children would be bathed in this water for three days in a row and their skin would improve. There is a smell similar to the smell of eggs in the water. In the past, the water would flow through an iron pipe and melt the iron pipe, so we replaced it with plastic. There was no problem with the plastic. Despite the smell, it is very drinkable. When the train line here was in operation, they would take water in canisters.

It is also said that this water is good for kidney stones. No analysis has been done on this water, but we would like to have it done. Last year, they came from France and took water from here in cans. The fame of this water has reached abroad, but only our villagers know about it in Sivas,” he said. (İHA)
