In just a few days, one of the most exciting Star Wars projects in years will start. The new series The Acolyte on Disney+ takes us deeper into the past of the Star Wars saga than any other live-action chapter before. The action takes place 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, in the age of the High Republic.
But the time setting is not the only thing that sets The Acolyte apart from other Star Wars series. The dark mystery thriller has a Jedi master (Squid Game star Jung-Jae Lee) investigate a series of murders, with a former Padawan coming under suspicion. And here the Series with a huge twist which attentive fans can already recognize on the poster.

Fans have been speculating for some time that lead actress Amandla Stenberg might play two different roles in The Acolyte. So far, however, all that was known was that Stenberg’s character is called Mae and is involved in a mysterious series of murders of Jedi.
Shortly before the start, the cat is out of the bag: Amandla Stenberg not only plays Mae, but also a character named OshaThese are twin sisters who were separated by a tragedy at a young age, as Stenberg reveals in an interview with Good Morning America.
This also solves a striking detail of the official The Acolyte poster motif This one shows Amandla Stenberg in two different positions (with and without a face covering). And now we know: The duplication is not a design flaw.

We’ve already seen the new Star Wars character Mae in trailers and videos. She’s the one who’s supposed to go to war against the Jedi and seek revenge. The fact that she has a twin was a big secret, however. Now, in an interview with Electric Playground, Stenberg provides some exciting information about the character Osha:
Osha, a mechanic who formerly belonged to the Jedi Orderbut left him as a Padawan, the [Taten ihrer Schwester] accused and has to defend herself, while at the same time finding out that her twin sister is still alive.
At the beginning of the series, the sisters on opposite sides of power The twin twist promises an interesting look at the relationship between good and evil. What once separated Mae and Osha and which villain ultimately drew one of the sisters to the dark side? These are just some of the mysteries that need to be solved in The Acolyte.
Series creator Leslye Headland is said to have originally written the story of The Acolyte as Mixture of Kill Bill and Frozen pitched, as Entertainment Weekly reported. Now we have an idea of what that means: a revenge story with martial arts action and a sister conflict as an emotional anchor.
When exactly does The Acolyte start on Disney+?
The Acolyte starts on June 5, 2024 on Disney+ with a double episode. After that, six more episodes await us, which will be released weekly every Wednesday. You can stream them from 3:00 a.m.
