For ostrich farmer Michael Klingstedt, it was an emotional summer. Expressing his feelings for the letter writers who moved into his farm was anything but easy, the feelings were great for several of them. When he makes his very last choice in “Farmer seeks wife” it’s between Mariette Rosander and Jenny Lindberg, when the one he chooses becomes Mariette.
– You have really given me the love that I long for, Michael then said to an overjoyed Mariette.
Viewers then got to follow along on their weekend trip and witness Michael tell Mariette that he loves her.
Michael and Mariette’s life together after Farmer seeks a wife
A couple of months have passed when the presenter Linda Lindorff does a follow-up. How have things gone for Michael and Mariette after the filming of the show?
– Since we got home from the trip, a lot has actually happened. I have moved in with Micke, so here I am now! New life, new man – absolutely wonderful, says Mariette in the program.
They decided that they would move in together quite immediately. Mariette rented out her farm, quit her job and moved in with Michael.
– There were no strange things. We had over three hours between us and in order for it to work, we did so. It feels great! I love this atmosphere, the safe and calm on the farm, we have a great time together, says Mariette now in an interview.
But the move has not been without opposition.
– I have not been allowed to change my address, so it has been difficult to look for a job. We’ve had to keep everything a secret, so it’s not just positive things. It is not possible to apply for a job and be registered in Laholm, then you end up in the trash rather quickly, says Mariette.
– We have longed for this. It’s been a tough period these months, we haven’t been able to do anything together. We haven’t been allowed to show ourselves together, those are the rules in the contract we signed, it’s just a matter of respecting them, she continues.
This is how love is celebrated
The fact that they finally get to be public with their love will be celebrated on Wednesday evening, with around 40 loved ones.
– There are many people we have not been able to meet, many of them have not wanted to know either. There will be mulled wine with cabbage rolls and finger food, and then we will all watch the last episode together.
For Mariette and Michael, the future now awaits – and everyday life!
– We have many plans and dreams, but everything has to take its time. I have to get fully settled first and get a permanent job. Then comes everyday life too. Even if you don’t like weekdays, it’s a weekday we want to have together, says Mariette.
In the program, we hear Mariette tell that before the program she built a wall around herself, which Michael then came to tear down – something she describes as “a bit shocking”.
– I want to advise others who are 50 plus not to give up on love! I thought it was over when you’re 57, but it’s absolutely crazy good! You don’t have to think about children, doggies and villas, you already have all that. That’s wonderful!
