It formed 470 million years after the “Big Bang”! Oldest black hole discovered: Best evidence yet

Webb Telescope spotted Farthest star Earendel a million times brighter

According to the written statement made by the US Aviation and Space Agency (NASA), a research team of astronomers used data obtained from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope and Chandra X-ray Observatory in their studies.

Researchers have discovered the oldest black hole ever discovered, formed just 470 million years after the “Big Bang”. The researchers plan to use the study findings to “fill in a bigger picture of the early universe.”

It is thought that these findings could improve theories about how some of the first supermassive black holes in the universe formed.

Dr. from Princeton University, who contributed to the research. Andy Goulding stated that there are physical limits to how fast black holes can grow once formed, but those born larger have an advantage.

“THE BEST EVIDENCE EVER OBTAINED”

Priyamvada Natarajan, an astrophysicist from Yale University, described the discovery as “the best evidence yet” that some black holes are formed from large clouds of gas, and noted that for the first time they have seen a brief phase when a supermassive black hole is as heavy as the stars in its galaxy.

The research was published in the journal Nature Astronomy. (AA)
