Two years after the Oscars slap scandal, Will Smith appears to be back at the top of Hollywood. With Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth part of the Bad Boys series started in June and did the dishes over $400 million into the box office. Now the actor’s other projects are gaining momentum.

This also includes the action thriller Fast and Loose, which was developed by Smith in the early 2020s but has never gotten out of the starting blocks. That should now changebecause Netflix wants to produce the blockbuster with none other than Bad Boys director and blockbuster expert Michael Bay.

Deadline brings the latest update on the major project, which has already been worked on by four (!) screenwriters: Jon Hoeber (RED), Erich Hoeber (RED), Chris Bremner (The Man From Toronto) and Eric Pearson (Black Widow). The story revolves around a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories.

Little by little, the protagonist of the story finds out that he is apparently extremely dangerous double life leads: On the one hand, he is a gang boss. On the other hand, he works as an undercover agent for the CIA. The big question is which side he is really on and who he can trust.

That definitely sounds like a premise that could get a lot of action out of it. Just two years ago, Michael Bay delivered one with Ambulance restless chase through the streets of Los Angeles. Now the big reunion with Will Smith is to follow, with whom he filmed Bad Boys (1995) and Bad Boys II (2023).

According to Deadline, the contracts have not yet been finalized. But Netflix wants the project as big event blockbuster position. Both Bay and Smith have experience in this area: Bay directed the action orgy 6 Underground for Netflix and Smith helmed the streamer’s first blockbuster, Bright.

With the project in development for some time, Bay isn’t the first director to be linked to Fast and Loose. As the Hollywood Reporter notes, David Leitch was originally slated to direct the film, having introduced Hollywood’s stunt people this year with The Fall Guy explosive monument sat.

When does Fast and Loose start on Netflix?

Since the film is still in the development phase, there is no official release date yet. However, Deadline writes that Fast and Loose is set to be the next big project for both Smith and Bay. If filming starts quickly, it could be a start End of 2026 be realistic.
