IT attack against SAS: “Am in the middle of the attack right now”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The airline SAS has suffered an IT attack which resulted in the website not working as it should. Anyone who wanted to book a flight with the company on Tuesday afternoon encountered patrol. An error message was displayed when entering information into the homepage’s search field.

– I cannot say more than that we are currently experiencing the attack and are doing everything we can to deal with it. So right now we are working hard and analyzing the incident, says Karin Nyman, communications director at SAS, to TV4 Nyheterna.

What or who is behind the attack is still unknown, as well as what type of attack it is.

TV4 Nyheterna: A colleague has been able to see another person’s personal data in his SAS app. How do you see it?

– That is part of the cyber attack. They are working on closing the app. They have not succeeded in this yet, but they are working on it. We are working hard on this and trying to remedy it as soon as we can. But we don’t want to comment more at the moment and will come back to it later when we have analyzed the situation, but right now the full focus is on putting an end to this. This attack is happening in real time and we are in the middle of the attack right now.

But this personal data thing is very serious, isn’t it?

– Right now we are in the position to analyze the situation, the consequences and how we have been affected. We are in the middle of the measures and may come back. There is no one who has an overview of this right now. As I said, it is a cyber attack that is going on right now and that we are trying to sort out right now.

Do you have a forecast?

– No, we don’t know that. But there is generally good IT protection. A good system. So we are working to deal with it and try to remedy what has happened. The biggest focus right now is on putting an end to it.

Are travelers who are currently traveling affected?

– The passenger lists are not affected. That is, those who are out and about are not affected.
