There is activity for the first pomegranate harvest of the season in the Nizip district of Gaziantep, one of the important agricultural cities of Turkey, which stands out with its pistachio and olive production. A yield of 800 tons to a thousand tons is expected for pomegranate, which is produced on a 125 thousand decare area owned by Mehmet Turgay Akan in the rural Saray District of Nizip district, next to the Euphrates River. Pomegranate growers hope to make a good amount of money from the harvest this year. Producer Levent Mazıcıoğlu said that the yield was high this year.
Mazıcıoğlu stated that farmers’ interest in pomegranate cultivation has increased in the district, where irrigated agriculture has become widespread thanks to the Euphrates River, and that a 20 percent increase is expected this year in the yield of pomegranate, whose production area is expanding day by day.

Stating that they have been producing pomegranates in an area of 125 decares in the district for 10 years and that they have 5,500 trees in their gardens, Mazıcıoğlu said, “The first agricultural products that come to mind in the Nizip district of Gaziantep are pistachios and olives. But in addition to pistachios and olives, we also started producing pomegranates. We produce pomegranates, the value of which has been forgotten and is being tried to make us forget. “Hopefully, we will experience how magnificent recycling is when we protect nature and these fruits, which are the gift of our nature and our Lord, which we are trying to make us forget over time,” he said.

Stating that pomegranate is an anti-cancer product, Mazıcıoğlu stated that pomegranate has many benefits and that it is very wrong to see this fruit, which is very beneficial for human health, only as a sour and sauce fruit.

Stating that pomegranate is a perfect source of healing for diabetes and blood pressure, Mazıcıoğlu explained the benefits of pomegranate fruit and said, “The Japanese asked us for dried pomegranate peel. We only use pomegranate peel for the health of the intestines of animals or to prevent diarrhea in animals that have given birth.
