The Israeli parliament is discussing a legal initiative that would ban the activities of UNRWA, the UN aid organization for Palestinian refugees, in Israel and occupied East Jerusalem.

The parliament is expected to vote in favor of the legislative initiative, reports the Times of Israel. According to the newspaper, the law would significantly limit UNRWA’s activities in Gaza and the West Bank.

The United States has expressed to Israel that it is very concerned about the bill, said a representative of the US State Department on Monday. British Foreign Secretary David Lammy on the other hand, said that he considers the initiative very unfortunate.
