The new NATO member Finland can buy Israel’s advanced robotic protection “David’s slingshot”. The agreement was signed in Jerusalem on Sunday.
“David’s slingshot” is described as a world-leading system to stop attacks with cruise robots of various kinds, as well as aircraft and drones. It has been developed by Israel and the United States.
Israel’s Ministry of Defense emphasizes in a press release that the system has demonstrated its capabilities in the ongoing war against Palestinian Hamas.
For NATO and Finland, the deal is assumed to be about strengthening the defense to the east against Russia. Israel has previously received criticism for not providing Ukraine with military aid, as it did not want to jeopardize relations with Russia.
The deal is valued at EUR 317 million (SEK 3.7 billion).
