  • Israeli morning raid on southern Beirut

    Israel attacked Beirut’s southern suburbs on Wednesday morning, following heavy shelling by Hezbollah on northern Israel overnight.

    In northern Gaza, Hamas’ drone chief has been killed, according to the Israeli military.

    Black smoke billows between buildings in the Haret Hreik neighborhood after the attack, television images show.

    The attack came shortly after the Israeli military issued an immediate evacuation order against the area. One building in the district in particular was singled out and nearby residents were asked to immediately evacuate at least 500 meters from the designated target.

    One person has been arrested after an explosion in Gubbängen in southern Stockholm on Tuesday, reports TV4 Nyheterna.

    Then a heavy detonation occurred at a gate.

    – We are ready at the scene and we have an arrestee, says the officer on duty.

    The US government is “concerned” about unconfirmed reports of North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia, Reuters reports.

    – This is no longer just about delivering weapons, Zelensky warned this weekend.

    If the information is true, it would mark a significant increase in military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, according to Sean Savett, spokesman for the White House National Security Council.

    “Such a move would also indicate a new level of desperation for Russia,” Savett said in a statement.

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi warned on Sunday that North Korea is sending military personnel to Russia.

    – We see an increasing alliance between Russia and regimes such as North Korea. This is no longer just about supplying weapons. It is actually about transferring people from North Korea to the occupying military forces, Zelenskyy said in his evening speech.

  • Nocturnal attacks on northern Israel

    About 50 projectiles were fired at northern Israel from Lebanon shortly after midnight, according to Israel’s military.

    Some of them were shot down, the military writes on Telegram. It is unclear if anyone was injured.

    At the same time, Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon states that they carried out nightly attacks on the city of Safed in northern Israel.

  • Former Ozzy guitarist shot

    Hard rock guitarist Jake E Lee is being treated in hospital after being shot several times in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.

    A representative for Lee confirmed in a statement that he was shot and that he is conscious and “expected to make a full recovery.”

    The 67-year-old joined Ozzy Osbourne in 1982 and played with him until 1987. He has also played in several other constellations and visited Sweden Rock in 2014 with his band Red Dragon Cartel.

  • Several children dead in boat accident off Greece

    Four people have drowned, including two small boys, in a boat accident off the Greek island of Kos, the country’s coast guard said late Tuesday. The other two deceased are supposed to be women.

    27 people were rescued, one of whom was arrested on suspicion of being a smuggler. The accident must have occurred in mild weather, according to the Greek Coast Guard.

    Accidents involving migrants regularly occur off the coast of Greece, one of the main countries for migrants trying to escape poverty or war to enter the EU.

    Something has exploded at a gate in Gubbängen in southern Stockholm.

    – We are on our way there, says management operator Adam Alm.

    The police are tight-lipped about the incident.

    – It is a little unclear what it is about right now, says Daniel Wikdahl, press spokesperson at the police.

    Witnesses tell Aftonbladet that they experienced them as “a strong bang”.

    – It was a huge bang. My windows were shaking.

  • Injured person found

    The police were alerted about an injured person found outdoors in Uppsala.

    The person has now been taken to hospital by ambulance. There is no information on the state of the damage.

    The incident is being investigated as aggravated assault.

  • Explosion indoors

    Something has exploded in a building in Trosa, reports Sörmland News.

    – Rescue services are on site, says Therese Stålnacke, team leader at SOS Alarm, to the newspaper.

    No injuries have been reported.

    – There has been an alarm about a loud bang near a property in the center of the town. We are on our way there, says Olle Älveroth from the police.

  • Suspected dangerous object found

    The police have been alerted about a suspected dangerous object that was found on a road outside Växjö.

    The area has been cordoned off and the National Bomb Squad has been called to the scene.

    – It is not connected to any residence, says Sara Andersson from the police.

  • Warning alarm at Arlanda – smoke in cabin

    An Air France flight due to land at Arlanda had smoke in the cabin.

    According to information, around 170 passengers were on board the plane and the oxygen masks were lowered.

    At 18.40, the rescue service stated that the plane had landed safely at Arlanda and that the smoke was gone.

    – We have been told that there is no smoke left on board and that the plane will continue towards the gate. There is no need to evacuate, says the rescue service’s command operator.

  • Police: Cheese thief caught

    The staff at a grocery store in Råcksta in western Stockholm became suspicious of a man in his 30s.

    When they confronted him, he became violent and left his bag containing SEK 1,500 worth of cottage cheese before fleeing.

    With the help of surveillance cameras, the police tracked the man to Vällingby, where he was arrested.

    He is now suspected of theft and minor assault.

  • Collision between two vehicles – both drivers to hospital

    The police received the alarm at 14.53 and the accident happened in Fyrislund, Uppsala.

    – Two vehicles have collided at an intersection and both drivers have been transported to hospital. The extent of the damage is unclear, says Pelle Vamstad, press spokesperson at the police.

    Both vehicles are recovered from the scene and the police will investigate how the accident happened.

  • Collision between school bus and motorcycle

    The accident happened in Svalöv and there are currently no reported injuries.

    – The motorcyclist is awake and able to speak. There were 15-20 children on the bus at the time of the collision who are unharmed, but a little shocked, says Jimmy Olsson, commanding officer at the rescue service.

    The road must be closed in the northbound direction.
