Israel has claimed for several years that terrorist-labeled Hamas has a command center there, which both Hamas and staff at the hospital deny.
“IDF forces uncovered a 55-meter-long terror tunnel 10 meters deep under the Shifa Hospital complex,” the military said in a statement.
Earlier this week, Israel’s military entered al-Shifa hospital. The photos and videos that the military has shown and claim are evidence of a Hamas command center on the hospital grounds have not been verified by any outside party.
On Saturday, people were reported to have started leaving al-Shifa Hospital, and on Sunday the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that 31 “very sick babies” had been evacuated from there.
