The draft resolution, put forward by Egypt and co-presented by approximately 100 countries, including Turkey, was voted in the Special Emergency Palestine session of the 193-member UN General Assembly.

The draft resolution was accepted with 153 votes against 23 “abstentions” and 10 “no” votes.

The countries that voted “No” were Austria, Czechia, Guatemala, Israel, Liberia, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and the USA.

In the decision, reference was made to the UN Charter and all resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly and the Security Council on Palestine.

According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper, US officials claimed that Israel has implemented a plan to pump sea water into the “Hamas tunnels” in Gaza.

Authorities stated that the seawater pumping process into the tunnels, which is expected to last for weeks, will be carried out with 7 separate pump systems.

It was reported that the spokesperson of the Israeli Ministry of Defense declined to comment on the issue and stated that the operations carried out in the tunnels were confidential.
