Israeli airstrikes killed at least 17 Palestinians in Rafah, southern Gaza, on Tuesday, Reuters news agency reported.
Reuters bases its information on interviews with local residents and medical personnel. According to residents, Israeli tanks continued to advance deeper into Rafah on Tuesday.
More than a million people had gathered in Rafah in May. Most of them have fled to the north since Israeli forces began pushing into the area.
