Israeli army: Eight soldiers killed in southern Gaza | News in brief

The Israeli army confirmed on Saturday that eight of its soldiers have been killed during a ground operation in southern Gaza.

According to the Reuters news agency, the soldiers were killed in an explosion in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

The Israeli military also said this week that four of its soldiers were killed in fighting in southern Gaza on Monday.

The army reported the deaths on Tuesday, but did not elaborate on the circumstances that led to the soldiers’ deaths.
