This is the opinion of the professor of Middle Eastern studies at the University of Helsinki Hannu Juusola and the director of the Department of Military Art at the National Defense University, colonel Pasi Hirvonen in Monday’s A studio.
According to Monday evening’s media reports, Israel has moved its forces near the border. In addition, Israel’s defense minister went to meet army forces in the north, and over the weekend, the forces leadership presented their plans to the commander of the Israeli Defense Forces.
– Something is clearly happening. Israel has everything ready to launch the next phase of the operation, says Pasi Hirvonen.
According to Hannu Juusola, according to these prospects, Israel is not about to launch an attack as extensive as in 2006, when Israel and Hezbollah fought a bloody war lasting more than a month. However, this would be a clear escalation that would increase the number of victims and cause heavy fighting between Hezbollah and Israel, at least in the southern parts of Lebanon.
