EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borell said on Tuesday in the UN Security Council that Israel is using starvation as a weapon in the war against Hamas in Gaza.

He also said that humanitarian aid must be able to enter Gaza because it is not some kind of natural disaster that has hit the area.

– Here is a crisis created by people. And when we look at alternative ways to bring in aid, by sea or air, we have to remember that we have to do it because the natural transport routes are closed and starvation is used as a weapon in the war, said Josep Borell.

Borell said the approach has been condemned in Ukraine and that the same words must be used when it comes to Gaza.

On Tuesday, the UN’s World Food Program (WFP) delivered food to northern Gaza for the first time since February 20, according to the UN.
