Israeli authorities are urging their country’s citizens not to participate in sports and cultural events held abroad next week.
The background to the call is the violence that broke out in Amsterdam last week, where Palestinian protesters clashed with fans of the Israeli soccer team before and after a soccer game.
Among other things, Israeli fans have been urged to miss the Israel-France soccer match in Paris on Thursday.
Earlier on Sunday, the French president Emmanuel Macron announced that he would participate in the match. According to the presidential office, with his participation, Macron wants to “send a message of brotherhood and solidarity after the intolerable anti-Semitism that followed the match in Amsterdam”.
