The United Nations aid organization for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, announced on Sunday that Israel had definitively stopped their aid shipments to northern Gaza where many people are threatened by starvation.

“Despite the tragedy unfolding before our eyes, Israeli authorities have informed the UN that they will no longer allow food convoys from UNWRA to the northern parts,” writes UNRWA head Phillipe Lazzarini on X.

He also writes that “this is appalling and involves deliberately preventing life-saving aid during a man-made famine”.

UNRWA spokeswoman Juliette Touma said the decision had been made during a meeting with representatives of the Israeli military on Sunday.

According to Touma, no justification was given for the decision.
