Israel announced on Saturday evening the sending of a team of negotiators to Qatar on Sunday in order to lead to a cease-fire and hostage release agreement in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli army operations left 42 dead on Saturday, according to local civil defense.
The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas had announced on Friday evening to be ready to “immediately engage” negotiations on a proposal for a truce sponsored by the United States and transmitted by the mediation of Qatar and Egypt, to which he had said that he had presented “his answer”, without more detail on its content.
Two Palestinian sources close to the discussions told AFP that the proposal subject to Hamas includes a 60 -day truce, during which the Islamist movement would release 10 hostages still alive, as well as a certain number of bodies, in exchange for the release of Palestinians held by Israel.
US President Donald Trump, who is scheduled to welcome Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Monday, said that an agreement could be concluded “next week”.

“The threat will not make us capitulate (..) that we do not say today soften your positions (..) make your weapons,” said Naïm Qassem in a speech, believing that it was necessary that “the aggression” of Israel stops.
Truce and hostage releases in Gaza: Israel sends negotiators to Qatar on Sunday
A team of Israeli negotiators is going to Qatar this Sunday for indirect talks for a truce and hostage release agreement in Gaza, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday evening, while calling “unacceptable” the last Hamas requests.
“The changes that Hamas seeks to bring to the Qatari proposal was communicated to us last night and are unacceptable for Israel,” said a statement from Mr. Netanyahu’s office.
Nevertheless, “after an evaluation of the situation”, Mr. Netanyahu “gave the investigation to respond to the invitation for indirect talks and to continue the efforts in order to recover our hostages on the basis of the Qatari proposal that Israel has accepted”, adds the text, specifying that “the negotiation team will go tomorrow (Sunday) for discussions in Qatar”.
