Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners | News in brief

This is the first release of prisoners related to the armistice agreement. The next prisoner exchange will take place next Saturday.

A total of 90 Palestinian prisoners have been released early Monday, Israeli officials say.

According to the AFP news agency, two buses left the prison in Oferi, where the Red Cross was preparing the prisoners for release.

The prisoners were supposed to be released already on Sunday, but the Israeli authorities blamed the Red Cross for the delay, Israeli media reported Ynet.

This is the first release of prisoners under the cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas that began on Sunday. Earlier on Sunday, the extremist organization Hamas handed over three hostages to Israel as part of the agreement.
