Israel orders new evacuation – thousands stuck in refugee camps

In a distress call from Kamal Adwan Hospital in Jabalia, the Hamas-run Health Department in Gaza is urgently asking for fuel for hospitals in northern Gaza:

“To be able to save the lives of the injured and sick before it is too late,” writes the Ministry of Health.

Israel has launched a third attack on Jabalia, where it says Hamas fighters have gathered to plan attacks. According to Israel, dozens of fighters have been killed in the city, but the figures have not been confirmed by third parties and it is unclear how many of the dead are civilians.

During Friday, about 30 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes against Jabalia, according to civil defense in Hamas-ruled Gaza.

Hospitals must be evacuated

At the Kamal Adwan Hospital, at the Jabalia refugee camp, they have started moving premature babies and other patients. Israeli troops and tanks are said to have surrounded the refugee camp, write BBC.

The refugee camp in Jabalia has been under siege for a week, states Dr. Mohammed Salhaacting director of another hospital in Jabalia.

Thousands of people have been stuck in the refugee camp, according to Doctors Without Borders.

“Anyone who tries to leave the camp is shot. There is no water or food,” writes Sarah Vuylsteke on Doctors Without Borders, on X.

No food has entered Gaza since October 1, it said United Nations Food Program WFP.

– The northern part is basically cut off and we cannot make efforts there, says Antoine Renard at WFP.

To overflowing Muwasi

In the new Israeli evacuation order, parts of Jabalia and the neighborhood of Sheikh Radwan in Gaza City are ordered to be evacuated. It includes the three largest hospitals in northern Gaza.

The people are ordered to move south, to the already overcrowded Muwasi, where the Israeli military has set up a humanitarian zone.
