The whole world stands by as Israel enters Lebanon after the massacres it committed in Gaza and now invades Syria. The attacks of Israel, which started to occupy the Golan Heights after the Baath regime was overthrown by the opposition, continue.
“HEAVIEST ATTACK” OF RECENT YEARS
The Israeli army announced that its warplanes hit military targets in the Syrian coastal city of Tartus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights described this attack as the ‘heaviest attack’ in recent years.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, “Israeli warplanes carried out attacks targeting a number of areas, including air defense units and surface-to-surface missile depots.”
The Observatory said these were “the heaviest attacks on Syria’s coastal region since the offensive began in 2012.”
THE ATTACK CAUSED A 3.1 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE
According to the news in the Times of Israel, the 3.1 magnitude earthquake recorded off the coast of Syria late last night was attributed to Israel’s intense attacks.
A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was reported by the Seismology Department of the Israel Geographical Survey at 23:49 last night. The epicenter of the earthquake was approximately 28 kilometers from the coast of the city of Banias.
HE SAID WE DON’T WANT WAR
Hours before the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a press statement via video. In his statement, Netanyahu said that he did not want a war with Syria and that his country’s “view on Syria will be shaped by the realities on the ground.”
Emphasizing that Syria is an ‘old enemy’ of his country, Netanyahu said, “They attacked us many times and provided weapons to Hezbollah” and added, “We will not allow Hezbollah to arm again.”
The leader of HTS, who took over power in Damascus, Ahmet al-Sharaa, known as Abu Muhammad al-Colani, stated that ‘Syria is too tired for a war’.
Stating that they do not want a new war with Israel, Colani underlined that they attach greater importance to the reconstruction of Syria.
THE OCCUPATION IS BECOME PERMANENT
While the parties pledged not to start a new war, Israel advanced from the buffer zone it created in the occupied Golan Heights and Mount Hermon.
Israeli forces captured 3 more villages in southern Syria and ordered the evacuation of some villages. It is unknown where the people in the evacuated villages in the region went.
Meanwhile, shortly after expanding the area in the occupied Golan Heights, Israel announced that it would double the settlement areas and the number of settlers there.
Israel also announced that it will stay in the occupied areas of Syria throughout the winter.
