After the overthrow of the Bashar al-Assad regime, control in Syria fell into the hands of opposition groups led by HTS. Meanwhile, Israel continues its attacks without slowing down. The villages of Cemle, Mezra Bethelcin and Megar Mir in the Katana town in southern Syria were also occupied by the Israeli army.
THEY ATTACK BOTH FROM THE LAND AND THE AIR
The Tel Aviv administration continues to attack the country both by land and air after the overthrow of the regime in Syria. Israel recently occupied the villages of Cemle, Mezra Beytelcin and Megar Mir in the Katana town in southern Syria.
ISRAELI CHIEF OF GENERAL STAFF SAID “WE HAVE NO INTENTION TO RULE SYRIA”
Israeli Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi made statements about the Israeli attacks on Syria after the end of the Assad regime. Halevi, who visited the troops stationed in the occupied Golan Heights, claimed in his speech that they did not interfere with the developments in Syria and said, “We have no intention of ruling Syria.” He claimed that they took “professional and correct” steps in Syria for the security of Israeli citizens. Halevi said, “There was a hostile enemy country here and its army collapsed. We moved forward to prevent the risk of terrorist elements coming here. “Thanks to us, radical terrorist elements will not be able to settle in areas close to the border,” he said.
ISRAEL’S ATTACKS AND OCCUPATION ON SYRIA
Following the clashes that intensified in Syria on November 27, and simultaneously with the collapse of the 61-year-old Baath regime on December 8, the Israeli army’s attacks on Syria increased.
The Israeli army, which started to destroy the military infrastructure and facilities remaining from the regime army, expanded its occupation of the Golan Heights, which is Syrian territory.
The Israeli army, which entered the buffer zone around the Golan Heights, carried the occupation further and came within 25 kilometers of the capital Damascus.
Israel has occupied the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967. The borders of the buffer zone and demilitarized zone were determined with the Withdrawal of Forces Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974.
