Israel finally agrees to change the lyrics of its song

Israel will ultimately have to change the lyrics of its song to compete for Eurovision. The announcement was made this Sunday by the Israeli broadcasting company which sides with Isaac Herzog. The Israeli president himself admitted “ necessary adjustments » in the texts of two songs which were to represent Israel, because their lyrics were considered too political by the organizers.

Never two without three, and this time, Israel hopes that this version will be the right one. The Jewish state backtracks on its threat to withdraw from the competition and agrees to rewrite the texts of its songs again.

Deemed too political, the lyrics of the song were contrary to Eurovision regulations. October Rain And Dance Forever are the two titles selected. They refer to the attacks perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, notably in this passage: “I promise you that it will never happen again / I am still wet from this October rain”.

Now, the Israeli broadcasting company has decided, it is necessary “ readjust the texts, while preserving their artistic freedom “.

In the meantime, the new version, Israel is still the subject of calls for boycott. In support of the Palestinian victims, several countries refuse to allow the Jewish state to participate in Eurovision. This 68th edition of the Eurovision contest will take place on May 11 in the city of Malmö, Sweden.
