Israel drops controversial NGO funding plan after diplomatic outcry

The Israeli government had planned to introduce a controversial bill on NGO funding on Sunday May 28 in the Knesset Law Committee. But after strong criticism from a number of foreign officials, the bill was taken off the agenda. The government has thus backed down, and according to an order from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, the law will be thoroughly reviewed.
