Former foreign minister Carl Bildt compared Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Putin on X. Israel’s ambassador to Sweden does not appreciate it, reports Svenska Dagbladet.
Bildt’s post on X was prompted by an image at a press conference in which Netanyahu points to a map, which lacks a border between Israel and the West Bank.
On Netanyahu’s map, Israel has already annexed the entire West Bank, commented the former foreign minister, who went on to say that Netanyahu’s views on international law are apparently no different from Putin’s. Putin has illegally annexed Crimea and parts of eastern Ukraine.
Israel’s ambassador Ziv Nevo Kulman writes to SvD that Bildt “instead of constantly criticizing Israel with absurd comparisons” should direct its energy towards “Palestinian maps and Iranian leaders who advocate that the state of Israel should be wiped out”.
Four hours after Bildt’s publication on X, the post had received over 75,000 views.
