The Israeli army’s attacks on Yemen continue. Israel carried out an air strike on some points in the country, especially the international airport in the capital of Yemen.
ISRAELI ARMY CLAIMED THE ATTACK
In the written statement made by the army, it was stated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz and Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi approved the attack plan against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
IT WAS REVEALED THAT THE WHO DIRECTOR WAS ALSO AT THE AIRPORT
It was revealed that World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was also at the airport during the attack. Ghebreyesus shared a post about the attack on X.
Stating that their mission to negotiate for the release of the UN personnel detained in Yemen, as well as to evaluate the health and humanitarian situation in the country, ended today, Ghebreyesus reiterated his call for the immediate release of the UN personnel detained by the Houthis.
“THE AIRPORT WAS ATTACKED WHILE WE WERE ABOUT TO BOARD THE PLANE”
Ghebreyesus said, “About two hours ago, the airport was attacked while we were about to board the plane from Sanaa. One member of the crew of our plane was injured. It was reported that at least 2 people died at the airport.” he said.
“MY COLLEAGUES FROM THE UN AND WHO ARE SAFE”
Ghebreyesus stated that the air traffic control tower and the boarding lounge and runway located nearby were damaged and said:
“We need to wait for the damage to be repaired before leaving here. My colleagues from the UN and WHO and I are safe. We extend our sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.”
It was reported that 3 people died and 16 people were injured in the air strikes carried out by the Israeli army on the International Sanaa Airport, which is under the control of the Houthis.
