After Israel attacked Lebanon, civilian citizens went through hell. Citizens of other countries escaping from the bombardment in Lebanon continue to come to Taşçu Port in Mersin’s Silifke district by sea because the airline is closed. Many people, who came to Taşucu Port with two ships before, went to their countries from here. Today, the ship with 320 people from different countries, including Turkish citizens, entered the port. Passengers escaping from the war talked about the frightening moments they experienced.
“WE SAW THE BOMBS, WE WERE VERY SCARED”
Gülsüm Sak, who escaped from the war and reached Turkey by sea, stated that they were afraid of the explosions and said, “Especially our children were very afraid. That’s why we had to return to our country. We were residing in Beirut. Our house is located on a high hill. “We saw the bombs, we were very scared,” he said.

Baki Çidem, who went from Samsun to Lebanon to work and had to return after the war, stated that he returned to avoid dying in the war of two different countries and said, “I went to work. Bombs are exploding everywhere. Bombs exploded next to the hotel where we were staying. What happened is not as seen on TV, there is a bloodbath everywhere. We had to hide in the mountains. If I am going to die in a war, I want to die in my own country. “I had to return to avoid dying in the war of two different countries,” he said.
Foreign passengers, who were preparing to go to European countries after passport procedures, thanked Turkey for allowing them to leave Lebanon.
