Meeting in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, Israeli and Palestinian officials agreed to establish a joint mechanism to reduce tensions between the two countries and prevent the escalation of violence. In the statement, it was also stated that the parties reaffirmed the commitments they made at the meeting held in Aqaba, Jordan on February 26. At the meeting in Aqaba, Israel promised to stop authorizing any new settlement for 4 months and for 6 months to authorize any outpost.
