Israel and Hamas truce talks are struggling – violence spreading

According to the Palestinian authorities, 30 people were killed in the Israeli attacks yesterday. There are seven wounded on the west bank.

The Hamas extremist organization said on Friday that efforts would be made to continue the Gaza truce negotiations between Israel and Hamas.

Israeli strikes killed around 30 people in Gaza on Friday, Palestinian officials say. According to Gaza civil protection authorities, several children are among the dead.

In addition, at least seven people were wounded in the Israeli-occupied West Bank when Israeli forces attacked a refugee camp late on Friday. Two of them are said to have received serious injuries.

According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, Israel has killed more than 45,500 people during its nearly 15-month offensive in Gaza. The UN considers the figures of the Gaza authorities to be reliable.

Among other things, the UN special committee investigating Israel’s activities has said that Israel’s methods of warfare in Gaza meet the hallmarks of genocide.

Armistice negotiations continue

Israel launched its massive attack on Gaza after the surprise attack on Israel by the extremist organization Hamas in October 2023.

Since the start of the attack, violence has also increased in the occupied West Bank. According to the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Health, Israeli forces or settlements have killed at least more than 800 people in the West Bank.

The Gaza truce negotiations were unsuccessful throughout last year. On Friday, the extremist organization Hamas said that the Gaza ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas would continue. According to Hamas, the indirect negotiations between the parties were to be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Prime Minister of IsraelBenjamin Netanyahu has given Israeli negotiators the authority to continue talks in Doha, Netanyahu’s office said on Thursday.
