While the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect on Sunday January 19, far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and his Jewish Force party announced in the morning their departure from the Israeli government. If the maneuver did not succeed in bringing about the fall of the coalition, it greatly weakened the executive and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who can only count on 62 deputies out of the 120 in Parliament. The other extremist force, however, threatens to leave the coalition if the war does not resume.
