Israel accuses the extremist organization Hamas of violating the ceasefire agreement, after the organization released female soldiers from its hostages on Saturday before other female prisoners.
Hamas released four Israeli female soldiers it had held hostage on Saturday, as part of a cease-fire agreement between it and Israel.
However, Israel considers Hamas to have violated the agreement. Prime minister of the country Benjamin Netanyahu announced that for this reason Israel is not going to carry out the withdrawal from parts of northern Gaza as agreed in the armistice agreement.
The purpose of the withdrawal planned for Sunday was to enable the residents of the area to return to their homes.
The Times of Israel reports the country’s public broadcasting company Kani’s information, according to which Israel is currently conducting negotiations for an Israeli female civilian, Arbel Yehudin for release. Yehudi was due to be released on Saturday alongside female Israeli soldiers.
Hamas has said that Yehud is in good shape, and that he will be released next week as part of the next prisoner exchange.
However, Israel demands the woman’s release earlier.
If a consensus is reached on Yehudi’s release in the next few days, the return of northern Gazans to their homes would also be allowed, says an Israeli official who commented on the matter to Kan.
Hamas, on the other hand, accused Israel on Saturday of delaying the implementation of the terms of the ceasefire by preventing northern Gazans from returning to their homes.
The extremist organization warned that this delay could have consequences for the next stages of the ceasefire agreement.
