The woman works as a prosecutor and is the cousin of Ismail Abdo, the gang leader who is known as the “Strawberry” and was involved in the bloody autumn last year.
She was charged earlier this year with two counts of breach of confidentiality. On the first occasion, she was the lead investigator in a murder case and shared classified information with a sibling. In the chat, the prosecutor spread, among other things, the name of who was murdered and the method behind it.
In the second case, she took a photo of her computer screen that showed the Public Prosecutor’s Office’s internal system. The photo, which was sent to a family member, showed that a person who shared the first name of Ismail Abdo had been arrested on a felony weapons charge. The prosecutor then joked that it was her cousin who had been arrested.
“I have arrested Ismail,” wrote the prosecutor’s cousin in the chat.
District Court: Disturbing
The prosecutor has denied any wrongdoing. She has partly stated that the information from the murder was already known and public on the internet, and partly that the gunman, Ismail, could not be identified based on a first name.
On Friday, the district court announced that the woman was sentenced for both cases of breach of confidentiality. The penalty was daily fines totaling SEK 15,000.
“In this context, it is troubling that the information has been revealed by a prosecutor in cases of serious crime. On the other hand, it has neither been claimed nor shown by the investigation, that the disclosure of the information was done in bad faith, that the preliminary investigations were damaged or made more difficult due to her disclosing the information,” the court writes in the judgment.
The public prosecutor’s office has requested that the woman be dismissed from her job. She is not suspected of having leaked information to her cousin.
