The Organization of Islamic Cooperation OIC condemns what it calls the “genocide” in the Gaza Strip and calls on its 57 member states to impose sanctions on Israel.

In a resolution following a meeting in The Gambia on Sunday, the OIC calls for sanctions against “the occupying power and to stop the export of weapons and ammunition used by its army to commit genocidal crimes in Gaza”.

The OIC wants its members to exert diplomatic, political and legislative means of pressure to deter Israel from the war it is waging in the Gaza Strip.

The organization also calls on the parties to agree on “an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire”.

The war started on October 7 last year after the Palestinian Hamas terror attack on southern Israel in which approximately 1,170 people, most of them civilians, were killed.

Since then, Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip has claimed nearly 34,700 lives, most of them women and children, according to the health authorities in the Hamas-controlled area.
