ISIS members attacked the detention center in the Rostov region, one of the oldest and touristic cities in Russia, and took two detention center employees hostage. In the images published on social media, one of the attackers dressed in all black is seen with a Russian official. While law enforcement officers were called to the scene, Russian state news agency RIA, citing unidentified sources, reported that the detainees involved in the hostage-taking incident were accused of terrorism.
5 PEOPLE WERE IDENTIFIED! 6. ATTACKER CLAIM
While Russian media outlet Baza announced that 5 of the attackers were identified, a sixth person was also involved in the attack. Russian media outlets stated that three of the attackers were members of ISIS and were preparing for a terrorist attack. It was reported that 3 people had been sentenced to 18 years in prison in the past.
Russian news agency Interfax announced that the attackers demanded a car and free passage.
ISIS TARGETED HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE
ISIS attacked the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia’s capital, in March. While 143 people lost their lives in the attack, hundreds of people were injured.
ISIS-H, an extension of ISIS, claimed responsibility for the attack.
